Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive

Each year, the Newton Knights of Columbus lead a Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities (CPID), s o m e – times referred to as the Tootsie Roll drive. You will generally see several members of our council handing out Tootsie Rolls at several stores in town as well as after church and collecting donations for good causes. Social distancing guidelines prevent us from running this in the way we have in the past, but the need is still there. We are going to collect donations on-line (or through the mail) instead this year. 90% of the proceeds will go to the Newton Special Education Department. In the past, they have used the funds for technology to help children communicate or special trips to help children with independent living skills. My personal favorite part of the year is when I receive pictures from these classrooms that benefit from our donations. The other 10% will go to the Iowa Special Olympics. There are several ways to help us meet our goal of $3000 this year.

1)Watch Facebook this week. Several members will be providing links you can click on to donate on-line.

2) Write a check addressed to the Knights of Columbus and write “CPID” in memo. You can mail to 800 E. 18th St. Newton, IA 50208 or call Cody Muhs at 641-275-5974 to make arrangements for one of the Knights to pick up the check. Any mailed donations should be mailed by 10/5. If you have any questions, please call Cody at the number above. Thanks in advance for your help
