Infant Baptism Preparation
The first step for parents wishing to have an infant child baptized at Sacred Heart is attending a Baptism Gathering Session. At the gathering parents discuss the responsibility involved in having a child baptized and share ideas on living out their commitment to raise their children in the Catholic faith.
Baptism Gathering sessions are scheduled on the following Sunday evenings at 6 p.m.
August 5, 2012
November 11, 2012
February 10, 2013
May 5, 2013
After parents attend the gathering they may schedule their child’s Baptism during an upcoming weekend Mass by calling, Ann Ratliff, parish administrative assistant at 641-792-2050.

R.C.I.A. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation is a faith conversion process. Unbaptized adults wishing to become Catholic begin their journey with a time of inquiry. During the catechumenate phase of their preparation, participants are dismissed from Mass after the Homily to meditate on the Scripture readings with the RCIA team. Sponsors join the group for the catechetical sessions, which focus on teachings and particular issues in the Catholic Church. During Lent the participants begin more intense spiritual preparation, including a retreat, for their upcoming celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and First Communion. The initiation sacraments are most generally celebrated at the Easter Vigil (Holy Saturday) and followed by a parish reception.
