Communal Penance Service
Members of Sacred Heart Catholic Community celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation together as community in Advent and Lent. First Reconciliation is celebrated during Advent for those who have completed the preparation process.

Chrism Mass
During the Chrism Mass the priests of the diocese renew their commitment to priestly service. Also at this Mass the bishop consecrates the chrism and holy oils that are used throughout the diocese for anointing the newly baptized, for confirmation, for anointing of the sick, and for the catechumens. After the ceremony, the oil is poured into bottles for every parish in the diocese and presented to parish representatives. The Chrism Mass is held at the Cathedral in Davenport prior to Holy Week.
